Indian adaption of American spy series Citadel is titled Citadel: Honey Bunny. Headlined by Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the lead, the upcoming web series is helmed by Raj and DK.

Hyderabad:Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Varun Dhawan are headlining web series Citadel India is known. Recently, during an event in Mumbai, Prime Video revealed the title of the series and shared its poster on social media. The show, directed by Raj and DK, is based on the American series Citadel, which originally starred Priyanka Chopra in the lead.

The Indian version, named Citadel: Honey Bunny, promises an engaging story that blends thrilling spy action with a heartfelt love story, all against the backdrop of the 90s era. Honey Bunny is a series within the larger Citadel universe. The streaming giant is yet to announce release date for Citadel: Honey Bunny.

Alongside Samantha and Varun, the cast features Kay Kay Menon, Simran, Soham Majumdar, Shivankit Parihar, Kashvi Majmundar, Saquib Saleem, and Sikandar Kher in significant roles. Produced by D2R films, the series was co-written by Raj, DK, and Sita Menon.

The original American series, starring Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra Jonas, received mixed reviews and a moderate audience response. It had a hefty production cost of $250 million, funded by the Russo brothers, known for their work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Varun Dhawan shared that he underwent intensive training to prepare for his role in the series. Stunt and action coordinators from Hong Kong and Los Angeles were brought in to focus on hand-to-hand combat, weapon skills, and overall fitness, ensuring the authenticity of the intense action scenes.
