Subhash Ghai Admitted to ICU; Spokesperson Confirms He Is 'Absolutely Fine'

Ghai was referred to the ICU on Saturday evening after experiencing respiratory troubles, weakness, frequent dizziness, memory loss, and difficulty speaking.

Hyderabad:Veteran director Subhash Ghai has been hospitalised in the intensive care unit (ICU) at Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai. He was referred to the hospital's ICU on Saturday evening after experiencing respiratory problems, weakness, memory loss, and difficulties communicating. Subhash Ghai is a filmmaker best known for films such as Ram Lakhan, Khalnayak, Pardes, and Taal, among others.

However, Ghai's representative stated that the filmmaker was admitted for a normal check-up. "We would want to confirm that Subhash Ghai is perfectly fine. He has been admitted for a normal check-up and is doing good. His spokesperson issued a statement thanking everyone for their love and care.

Subhash Ghai began his career as an actor in Bollywood. He appeared in little films such as Taqdeer and Aaradhna. Later, he played leading roles in films such as Umang and Gumrah. However, his acting career was unsuccessful, so he shifted to direction. He made films like Vishwanath, Karz, Meri Jung, Karma, Ram Lakhan, Saudagar, Kalnayak, Pardes, and others.

His first film as a filmmaker was Kalicharan, which starred Shatrughan Sinha. The film was a huge hit, establishing him as a director. During the 1980s and 1990s, he directed some of the most successful films. In Vidhaata, Karma, and Saudaagar, he collaborated successfully with Dilip Kumar. He won a Filmfare Award for Best Director for Saudaagar. Subhash Ghai also cast Jackie Shroff in the blockbuster film Hero.

In 2006, he won the National Film Award for Best Film on Other Social Issues for producing the social problem film Iqbal. The same year, he established the Whistling Woods International Film and Media Institution in Mumbai. He most recently produced and scripted the comedy-drama streaming film 36 Farmhouse, which was released in 2022.
