Addressing the Rajya Sabha, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said, "I thank over 90 speakers, who have spoken on the provisions made in the Budget."
"At the beginning, I would want to underline the fact that the Budget has been made during difficult times, especially the external challenges. It is very difficult to reasonably plan the Budget. This immense uncertainty is playing out. Our imports are going to be left with uncertainty," she said. "The Budget has identified the difficulties. We are facing a situation of fragmentation of the World," she added.
"In Budget, we have kept goals of accelerating growth, encouraging private investment," Sitharaman said. The Finance Minister added, "Effective capital expenditure likely to be Rs 19.08 lakh crore in next fiscal. We have not cut down on sectoral allocations in the Financial Year 2025-26 Budget."
According to the Finance Minister, the Narendra Modi-led govt managed the Covid-19 crisis and India became the world's top fifth economy while the country was in fragile 5 after the global financial crisis.
