Satara/Thane: Amid criticism by opposition over delay in the selection of next Chief Minister, Maharashtra caretaker CM Eknath Shinde on Sunday said there was no dispute in the Mahayuti alliance and a decision would be taken after another meeting of the alliance leaders. He said that he came to his native village in Satara to take rest as he had worked hard during the elections.
The caretaker CM's comment came on a day when Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray called it an insult to Maharashtra that no decision was taken on the next chief minister even more than a week after the election result. On the other hand, the Mahayuti alliance is getting ready for oath-taking on December 5.
Shinde said that their alliance was ready to form the government once again as per the wishes of the people, whose mandate had given them a greater responsibility. He said that the BJP would decide who would be the next CM of the state. Shinde said that he would abide by the BJP decision and extend his cooperation all the time.
The caretaker CM further said that the Mahayuti is holding discussions on the formation of the government and there are no differences of opinions on this. The BJP, Shiv Sena and NCP are going to arrive at a unanimous decision on this, he said.
Eknath Shinde, who came to his village two days ago, said, "My health is fine now. I had come to the village for rest. I have not taken a vacation in two and a half years. I had worked very hard during the election period. That is why I had come to the village to rest a little," Shinde said.
Regarding the CM selection, he said that all the discussions are going on and a meeting was also held with Union Home Minister Amit Shah. A decision will be taken in the interest of the state, he said, adding that they will fulfill the expectations of the people. "The opposition is left with no work. We have no dispute. The opposition cannot even select the leader of the opposition. That is why they are raising the issue of EVMs," he said.
