Sindhudurg:Maharashtra School Education and Marathi Language Minister Deepak Kesarkar has won from Sawantwadi Assembly seat in the Sindhudrug district by a margin of over 39,000 votes.
According to the Election Commission of India data, at the end of 23 rounds of counting, Kesarkar, who is seeking re-election secured 81008 votes by defeating his nearest rival Rajan Krishna Teli of Shiv Sena (UBT) who has bagged 41109 votes.
In the 2019 polls, Kesarkar had won on a ticket of undivided Shiv Sena. After Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde caused a vertical split in Shiv Sena, the party founded by late Balasaheb Thackeray, Kesarkar decided to go with Shinde and was made a minister in the Maharashtra government.
