Maharashtra Election 2024 Results | Minister Deepak Kesarkar Wins Sawantwadi By 39,000 Votes

Shiv Sena's Deepak Kesarkar has won against Rajan Krishna Teli of Shiv Sena (UBT) by a margin of 39,899 votes in Sawantwadi seat.

Sindhudurg:Maharashtra School Education and Marathi Language Minister Deepak Kesarkar has won from Sawantwadi Assembly seat in the Sindhudrug district by a margin of over 39,000 votes.

According to the Election Commission of India data, at the end of 23 rounds of counting, Kesarkar, who is seeking re-election secured 81008 votes by defeating his nearest rival Rajan Krishna Teli of Shiv Sena (UBT) who has bagged 41109 votes.

In the 2019 polls, Kesarkar had won on a ticket of undivided Shiv Sena. After Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde caused a vertical split in Shiv Sena, the party founded by late Balasaheb Thackeray, Kesarkar decided to go with Shinde and was made a minister in the Maharashtra government.

This time however it was a battle between the two Senas, Deepak Kesarkar versus Rajan Krishna Teli.

Kesarkar has banked on the work he has done in his constituency in the past five years and the work done by the Eknath Shinde-led government. He has pinned his hopes on Ladki Bahin Scheme, which provides Rs 1,500 to the women, whose applications have been accepted.

Teli on the other hand has projected how the Maharashtra government has failed and how they have been unable to promote the picturesque location as a tourist hub.
