Jammu:As the weather in Jammu and Kashmir continues to remain dry, the summer capital, Srinagar, recorded the coldest night of the season on Thursday with city’s minimum temperature dropping to minus 4.1 degrees Celsius.
In the Jammu region, the Padder area in Kishtwar district recorded the lowest temperature as the temperature plummeted to minus 8.4°C. The temperature, as per the IMD officials in Srinagar, will continue to fall, and dry weather will persist in Jammu and Kashmir.
The weather department said that the Larnoo area experienced a bone-chilling temperature of minus 7.0 degrees Celsius—the lowest temperature in south Kashmir. The other parts of south Kashmir, including Qazigund, recorded minimum temperatures of minus 4.4°C, Pahalgam (-6.5°C), Kokernag (-2.4°C), Anantnag (-6.3°C), Pulwama (-6.3°C), Kulgam (-3.8°C), and Shopian (-6.6°C).
Famous tourist resorts Gulmarg and Sonamarg also witnessed subzero temperatures at minus 4.3°C and minus 6.2°C, respectively, while central Kashmir’s Ganderbal and Budgam areas shivered at minus 3.6°C and 4.6°C, respectively. In North Kashmir, Kupwara saw a low of minus 3.4°C, Bandipora minus 4.6°C, and Baramulla minus 3.3.
