అంతర్జాతీయ స్థాయిలో ప్రతి క్రీడలోనూ ఆటగాళ్లు ప్రొఫెషనల్గా ఆడతారు. అయితే ఎక్కడో చోట మ్యాచ్ ఫిక్సింగ్ ఉన్నట్లే డబ్ల్యూడబ్ల్యూఈలోనూ ఉంది. అంతమాత్రాన ప్రతి ఒక్కరూ ఫిక్సింగ్ పాల్పడుతున్నారని కాదు.
మిమ్మల్ని ఎవరైనా ఫిక్సింగ్ కోసం సంప్రదించారా?
చాలా మంది ఫిక్సర్లు నా దగ్గరకొచ్చారు. మ్యాచ్లో తాము చెప్పిన విధంగా ఆడాలని అడిగారు. కానీ ఒక్కసారీ వారిని లెక్కచేయలేదు. నా కెరీర్ మొత్తం నిజాయితీగా ఉన్నా. మంచి ప్రదర్శన చేసేందుకే ప్రయత్నించా.
యువ క్రీడాకారులకు ప్రభుత్వం నుంచి సాయం అందుతుందా?
ఇప్పుడిప్పుడే ఎదుగుతున్న క్రీడాకారులపై ప్రభుత్వం దృష్టిసారించాల్సి ఉంది. క్షేత్రస్థాయి నుంచి క్రీడలను అభివృద్ధి చేయాల్సి ఉంది. ఆటగాళ్లకు కోట్ల రూపాయలు ఇవ్వమని నేను అడగట్లేదు. వారికి కనీస సౌకర్యాలైన ట్రాక్ సూట్లు, స్పోర్ట్ షూ లాంటివి ప్రభుత్వం అందించాలి. దిగువస్థాయి ప్రజలపై దృష్టిపెట్టి వారిని క్రీడలవైపు మళ్లేలా ప్రోత్సహించి, వారిలో స్ఫూర్తినింపేలా ప్రయత్నించాలి.
పౌరసత్వ సవరణ చట్టంపై మీ స్పందన ఏంటి?
ఈ చట్టాన్ని నేను సమర్థిస్తున్నా. ప్రభుత్వం మంచి చట్టాన్ని తీసుకొచ్చింది. ఎవరైతే భారతీయులు కారో, దేశాన్ని ఇబ్బందులకు గురిచేస్తున్నారో వారిని బయటకు పంపించాలి. వినడానికి కష్టంగా ఉన్నా.. నేను చెప్పేది నిజం.. దీన్ని దాచిపెట్టలేం.
2000లో ప్రొఫెషనల్ రెజ్లింగ్లో అరంగేట్రం చేశాడు ఖలీ. అనంతరం వరుస విజయాలతో దూసుకెళ్లాడు. 2007లో ప్రపంచ హెవీవెయిట్ ఛాంపియన్గా అవతరించాడు.
