రానున్న సార్వత్రిక ఎన్నికల్లో ఎన్డీఏ విజయం తథ్యమని పరోక్షంగా ధీమా వ్యక్తంచేశారు ప్రధాని నరేంద్రమోదీ. మే చివరివారంలో మన్ కీ బాత్లో పాల్గొంటానని చెబుతూ... మరోమారు ప్రధాని కావడం ఖాయమని సంకేతాలిచ్చారు.

నెలనెలా ఆకాశవాణి ద్వారా నిర్వహించే మన్ కీ బాత్ కార్యక్రమానికి సార్వత్రిక ఎన్నికల దృష్ట్యా మార్చి, ఏప్రిల్ నెలల్లో విరామం ఇస్తున్నట్లు ప్రధాని నరేంద్రమోదీ ప్రకటించారు. మే చివరి ఆదివారం నాడు తిరిగి రేడియో ద్వారా ప్రజలను ఉద్దేశించి ప్రసంగిస్తానని చెప్పారు. నేడు 53వ మన్ కీబాత్ కార్యక్రమంలో ప్రధాని మోదీ ఈ విషయం తెలిపారు.

"We do have some cases, but it's not so frequent as we are seeing here. But there are cases. In the Church, we are a body. Everything that goes on here, we are one family and we all have to get together to resolve this problem. But, the few cases that we have in Africa, we have to take into consideration our culture and you have to understand that when this problem appears, the problem of sexual abuse, there is another culture, the young. The young people in a community work together to resolve a problem which is wealth, isn't it? Sometimes, the victims don't realise what had happened to them. So they think it's not worth the effort to seek justice, but instead, they try to resolve the problem within the community."

"The congregation is preparing a handbook, which will be very accessible to the public. We are preparing the definitive draft that needs to then be properly studied and approved. It's a list of questions and answers. When one receives a report, what does he need to do, what needs to be reported and what kind of cases (need to be referred) to the Holy See, what needs to be included and how to handle a trial. In short, so many answers to concrete questions which will help our bishops. This is a concrete step which will be available shortly."

"I think in every country, in every bishops conference, not only in the diocese but in all territories, there should be a 'help desk.' For example, bishops in Chile have implemented this service of 'eschuca,' (listening) which was organised by people with great reputations, who have the people's trust and who are experts. A point of reference where a person can file a report, share a difficult story, a story that needs to see the light, and be followed up."

"Unfortunately, and I say unfortunately, the victim has the right to report (a sexual assault) but (currently) there is no mechanism to inform the victim of what action we had taken. Sometimes, trials are conducted, but the victim doesn't know this. Maybe someone goes (to meet the victim) to ask for testimony, but the victim doesn't know the result (of what happens after giving testimony). Recently, I had a request by a victim (to check a case). I went to check (the case) and the trial was over. The priest had been removed from the ministry and the victim didn't know about this. They (victims) continue to say that there wasn't a follow up to their report. However, there was a follow up but (the issue is) a lack of communication."

STORYLINE:
Bishops attending a four-day Vatican summit to discuss the sexual abuse of minors by the clergy said on Saturday that each of them are finding their handling of abuse cases within the Church different from one another.
Emerging after a third day of meetings, Archbishop Eamon Martin of Armagh in Ireland said that nations with no or few reported cases should work on prevention.
"Just because it hasn't come forward, doesn't mean it is not there' and therefore we need to be working on prevention, on education and we need to have very clear guidelines."
Monsignor Samuel Kleda, the Archbishop of Muyinga in Cameroon, highlighted "cultural differences" adding that many cases of sexual abuse, instead of being reported, are resolved separately within communities.
On the third day of meetings, Maltese Archbishop Charles Scicluna, the Vatican's sex crimes investigator, announced the preparation of a public handbook with guidelines on how to handle reported sexual abuse cases.
