लंदन : इंग्लैंड के सीमित ओवर के कोच मैथ्यू मॉट ने कहा है कि वह टेस्ट कप्तान बेन स्टोक्स को उनकी बल्लेबाजी क्षमता के आधार पर विश्व कप टीम में शामिल करने के लिए तैयार हैं और उन्होंने खुलासा किया कि सीमित ओवरों के कप्तान जोस बटलर स्टोक्स के साथ बातचीत करेंगे.

डिफेंडिंग चैंपियन इंग्लैंड ने वर्ल्ड कप की तैयारियां शुरु कर दी हैं लेकिन उन्हें इस बार एक स्टार खिलाड़ी की कमी खल सकती है. दुनिया के बेहतरीन ऑलराउंडर्स में गिने जाने वाले बेन स्टोक्स वनडे से संन्यास ले चुके हैं. मगर इंग्लैंड की टीम मैनेजमेंट इस कोशिशों में जुटी हुई है कि स्टोक्स रिटायरमेंट से वापसी करके वर्ल्ड कप में खेलें.
स्टोक्स ने पिछले साल जुलाई में वनडे से संन्यास ले लिया था और हाल ही में 2024 की शुरुआत में भारत के खिलाफ टेस्ट श्रृंखला के लिए फिट होने के लिए 50 ओवर के प्रारूप से संन्यास लेने के अपने इरादे को दोहराया. यह ऑलराउंडर मेगा-इवेंट के 2019 संस्करण में इंग्लैंड के लिए मुख्य खिलाड़ियों में से एक था. स्टोक्स को फाइनल मैच में उनकी नाबाद 84 रनों की पारी के लिए प्लेयर ऑफ द मैच से भी नवाजा गया था.

मैथ्यू मॉट ने कहा, 'जोस बटलर इसको लेकर बेन स्टोक्स से बात करेंगे. हालांकि स्टोक्स ने अभी तक साफ-साफ मना ही किया है. हम देखेंगे कि वो वापसी करना चाहते हैं या नहीं'. कोच ने यह भी कहा कि उनकी गेंदबाजी एक बोनस होगी लेकिन बल्ले और फील्डिंग से भी उनका योगदान काफी जबरदस्त रहता है. उन्होंने आगे कहा, 'पूरे एशेज सीरीज के दौरान उन्हें देखकर लगा कि उनकी उपस्थिति बहुत अच्छी थी. जब वनडे क्रिकेट में प्रदर्शन की बात आती है तो उन्होंने वर्षों तक ऐसा किया है और इसलिए वह एक बड़े खिलाड़ी हैं'.

स्टोक्स को फरवरी में न्यूजीलैंड दौरे के दौरान घुटने में चोट लग गई थी, जिसके कारण वह इंडियन प्रीमियर लीग के अधिकांश सत्र से चूक गए थे. हालांकि वह एशेज में इंग्लैंड की कप्तानी करने के लिए तैयार थे, लेकिन चोट के कारण उनकी भागीदारी ज्यादातर बल्लेबाजी तक ही सीमित थी. उन्होंने पांच मैचों में केवल 29 ओवर फेंके.
भारत की मेजबानी में आयोजित होने वाला वनडे विश्व कप 2023 5 अक्टूबर से अहमदाबाद के नरेंद्र मोदी स्टेडियम में मौजूदा चैंपियन इंग्लैंड और न्यूजीलैंड की टक्कर के साथ शुरू होगा.
