मेलबर्न: क्रिकेट ऑस्ट्रेलिया ने एक नई नीति बनाई है जिसके तहत ट्रांसजेंडर और समलैंगिक ऑस्ट्रेलिया में बड़े स्तर पर क्रिकेट खेल सकेंगे. बोर्ड ने एलीट लेवल पॉलिसी बनाई साथ ही कम्यूनिटी क्रिकेट के लिए दिशा निर्देश भी जारी किए हैं जिसमें ट्रांसजेंडर और समलैंगिक खिलाड़ियों को प्रोत्साहन दिया जा सके.
क्रिकेट ऑस्ट्रेलिया के सीईओ केविन रॉबर्ट्स ने कहा,"खेल के सबसे बड़े फैक्टर्स शक्ति, सहनशक्ति और फिटनेस हैं. कुछ मापदंडों के अधीन अब ट्रांसजेंडर और समलैंगिक खिलाड़ियों को क्रिकेट के ऊंचे से ऊंचे स्तर पर खेलने का मौका मिलेगा."

रॉबर्ट्स ने जमीनी स्तर के क्रिकेट के लिए भी दिशा निर्देश जारी किए हैं. इसमें क्लब्स, प्लेयर्स, प्रशासकों, कोच और अन्य स्वयंसेवकों को कहा गया है कि ये उनकी जिम्मेदारी है कि वे ट्रांसजेंडर और समलैंगिक खिलाड़ियों के लिए सुरक्षित, उत्पीड़न और भेदभाव से मुक्त वातावरण पेश करें.
