Uttarakhand: ITBP personnel rescue elderly woman under harsh weather conditions

The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) on Saturday carried an injured woman from Laspa, a remote village in Pithoragarh district to a hospital, around 40 km away. The woman had accidentally fallen from a hillside and broken her leg on August 20. Coming to her rescue, the 14th Battalion of the ITBP initially called a chopper that could not land for two days due to harsh weather conditions. They later decided to carry her on a stretcher one by one for over 15 hours. She was rushed to a hospital where her condition is said to be stable now.
