Thousands of migrant labourers stage protest in Kottayam violating lockdown norms

Thousands of migrant labourers at Payippad of Kottayam district have taken out protest on road demanding vehicle for them to return to their homeland on Sunday. The protest was started at around 11 am as a large number of protesters, assembled on road here violating the lockdown norms. The workers allege that they have been facing scarcity of food items and concerned officials should resolve the issue and take necessary steps for them. Reportedly, Police in Kerala’s Kottayam district resorted to mild baton charge to disperse a crowd of migrant workers who violated lockdown norms.
