Nandankanan Zoo in Odisha's Bhubaneswar has welcomed two lion cubs on Wednesday. Authorities informed that Bijili and Samrat gave birth to three cubs but one of them, unfortunately, died during delivery. The movement of the lioness and her cubs are being monitored through CCTV. The cubs were born after 105 days of pregnancy. After the lioness became pregnant last April, she was shifted to a lion safari feeding chamber. Due to a sharp decline in the number of lions, the authorities brought in six Indian lions and lionesses from Indore's Kamala Nehru Zoo in 2018 to increase their population. The Nandankanan Zoo has 14 lions of three species. There are four Indian lions including two males and two females, one pair of African lions, four pairs of hybrid lions.
