Chamoli (Uttarakhand): A glacier broke off at Narayan Parvat in Badrinath Dham in Uttarakhand's Chamoli district on Saturday. The video of the same surfaced on social media. The video was recorded by Shraddhalu Sagarm, a traveller, in the Badrinath Dham. In the video, ice was seen flowing like water. Natural disasters like avalanches, earthquakes, floods and cloud bursts is a normal affair in Uttarakhand as the state is being located on the foothills of the Himalayas.
After the heavy snowfall in Badrinath Dham near Narayan Parvat in the past few days, huge glaciers have developed, which are now slowly moving downwards. According to sources, fortunately there is no residential area where the glacier broke. Meanwhile, more than one lakh devotees visited all four Dhams. Furthermore, the Meteorological Department has issued an alert to pilgrims about the bad weather in the state due to intermittent rain and snowfall in Kedarnath.
