The annual Koothandavar temple Chithirai festival celebrations began on April 5 this year in Koovagam near Ulundurpet. The festival brings together transpersons from across India. As part of the festival, the renowned Miss Koovagam event took place on Sunday. It was organized by the Tamil Nadu State AIDS Control Society and attended by Higher Education Minister Ponmudi. Sadhana of Chennai was crowned Miss Koovagam and also pocketed a cash prize of Rs 15,000.

Intro:Body:Villupuram: The Chennai based transgender Sadhana wins Miss Koovagam pageant 2022 held here at VillupuramVillupuram: &nbsp;Koothandavar temple Chithirai festival celebrations begin on April 5 in Koovagam near Ulundurpet. Koothandavar temple brings transpersons from across the country in April, during Chithirai festival's main event. &nbsp;The main event Swamy kanthirathal and thali tying for trans persons will take place on April 19, Tomorrow. Part of the event transgenders get tie the thali from temple priests. Following this,&nbsp; April 20 car procession will take place.The renowned Miss Koovagam event took place yesterday (April 17) at Villupuram Kalaingar Arivalayam. The event was organised by Tamil Nadu State AIDS Control society and other organisations conducted programs to transpersons. Higher Education Minister Ponmudi, Trichy Siva MP attended the event.150 transgenders from Tamilnadu's various districts participated in the event and appeared on stage in different costumes. Preliminary rounds took place and 3 transpersons were selected for the final round. AIDS awareness and other general knowledge questions were asked. On their performance, Sadhana of Chennai secured 1st place and won Miss Koovagam pageant. Madhumitha of Chennai and Elsa of Chennai secured 2nd and 3rd place respectively.Miss Koovagam winner Sadhana was crowned and a cash prize of Rs.15,000 given. Rs.10,000 and Rs.5000 cash prizes were given to 2nd and 3rd place winners.As part of the event, Dance competition for trans persons was also held. One of the Transpersons who dressed as Kali and performed got applauded by everyone.Conclusion:
