New Delhi: The multiple and varied disruptions have highlighted the vulnerability of trade for Indian Air Force as it relies heavily on global supply chain, Air Chief Marshal V R Chaudhari said on Tuesday. Addressing at Indian Air Force's Logistics Seminar 2023, Chaudhari said, "Global supply chains have become increasingly complex and interconnected driven by the manuscripts of international trade and advances in technology.
The defence sector is not an exception to this fact. Indian Air Force relies heavily on global supply chains for delivery of critical components, equipments, and services to maintain it's combat potential at an optimum level. "Stressing on the recent Covid-19 pandemic, the ongoing conflict in Europe, trade barriers, and economic slowdown, Chaudhari said that such events have highlighted the vulnerability of supply chains to disruptions exposing the need for the Air Force to enhance it's logistical capabilities and leverage emergence technologies to absorb such disruptions.
