Sudan PM survives assassination attempt

An explosion targeted the convoy of Sudanese Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok in Khartoum. His family has confirmed that Hamdok was safe. No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack. Hamdok was appointed prime minister last August after pro-democracy protests forced the military to remove then autocratic president Omar al-Bashir in April and replace it with a civilian-led government.
