Rendering RTI act ineffective

In March 2018, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had lauded the Right to Information Act, saying the act if helpful in promoting transparency in the administration by inculcating the values of responsibility and accountability among officials. Proving the apprehensions right, the Union government proposed an RTI amendment bill which was opposed tooth and nail by the opposition and various sections of the soceity.
