Is BJP's 'one nation one poll' agenda feasible for India?

Even as the Bharatiya Janta Party has been pushing the idea of 'one nation, one poll', there seems to be a clear demarcation between political parties that are in support and against the idea of holding simultaneous elections. While the parties that are rooting in favour of it argue that it would help reduce the burden on the public exchequer and help bring down the flow of black money used in elections, the ones opposing it are of the view that it would subvert parliamentary democracy. Can a country as big and as diverse as India afford to hold simultaneous elections?
