Cyclone Yaas makes landfall, impacts coastal areas of Bengal & Odisha

Cyclone Yaas made landfall leaving behind a trail of destruction in the coastal areas of West Bengal and Odisha. The landfall process began at 9 am on Wednesday. According to IMD, rainfall will continue till Thursday. Fishermen are advised not to venture till Thursday morning following rough sea conditions. The cyclone has claimed the lives of four people so far. Army personnel have also been deployed to combat any eventualities. Around 5.80 lakh people were shifted to safe shelters in Odisha while 11 lakh people in West Bengal were evacuated.
