Emotional Freedom Technique

Have you ever felt stressed as a parent? Or perhaps felt frustrated by not being able to get your children to listen to you? ETV Bharat Sukhibhava was in conversation with Ms. Sonal Sinha, a mother to twin children and a certified EFT trainer for some interesting insights on the same.

Sonal says, being a parent is a big responsibility and even more when there are some unexpected challenges associated with it. When she really needed help to cope with her situation, she came across EFT that helped her take charge of her situation. Hence, became a certified EFT practitioner by learning this technique professionally by Dr. Rangana Rupavi Choudhuri, Founder and CEO, Vitality Living College.

So, what is EFT?

EFT is the Emotional Freedom Technique. It’s a quick and effective tool to help us release our emotional baggage, and it gives a long-lasting benefit. It’s a powerful tool to remove stress and negativity by tapping on acupuncture meridian points and saying out specific statements aloud. It’s a combination of psychology and acupuncture (without using needles). EFT has been proven clinically effective in removing the blocks that create a number of physical and mental problems.

When we come across a disturbing memory, it creates a disruption in our body system which results in negative emotion. This negative emotion causes stress and invites illness in our body. A lot of times, we also form beliefs when we experience unpleasant incidents. EFT helps to clear out all these negative emotions and beliefs which create blockages in our system and in our thought patterns. Clinical studies have shown that EFT is very effective in relieving stress.

EFT can be practised on oneself on their own, but a lot of times a practitioner is in a better place to guide someone who wants to use tapping on their problem. An EFT practitioner's job is to help the client through their issue and to guide them on how to tap on the meridian points. The client needs to tap on themselves on their own. Hence this therapy can be received online as well as in a physical one to one meeting.

Some of the areas where EFT was found to be really beneficial:

  • Parents with special needs found this method extremely helpful to release their stress. It helped them to accept their child’s condition and help the child cope with the real world.
  • It has helped a lot of people get relief from physical pain.
  • EFT showed good results with people who have skin-related issues.
  • EFT helped students to overcome anxiety and stress, which has helped them to perform better in exams.
  • With teenagers, who are going through a lot of changes at a physical and an emotional level, EFT helps them to overcome stress, anxiety and complex emotions.
  • During covid times, when most of us are facing problems like anxiety, nervous disorders, weight gain, disrupt body functioning, etc., EFT helps to release the emotional baggage and accept the current situation happily.

EFT is letting your body and mind lead you to heal yourself and guide you towards a better tomorrow. EFT is a process and requires multiple sessions and due reciprocation from the patient.
