West Bengal extends COVID-19 curbs till Sept 30

Kolkata: In view of the prevailing COVID-19 situation, the West Bengal government has decided to further extend the restrictions that were in place till September 15.

A communique from the Chief Secretary on Wednesday read that all outdoor activities, including the movement of people and vehicles, shall be strictly prohibited between 11 pm - 5 am except for health services, law and order, essential commodities, including agricultural produce and other emergency services. The decision was taken during a meeting of the State Executive Committee of West Bengal State Disaster Management Authority.

Wearing of masks, maintenance of physical distancing and health and hygiene protocol must be followed at all times, it stated.

Employers, management bodies, owners, supervisors of all offices and workplaces shall be responsible for the provisioning of all COVID safety measures, including sanitization of workplaces, vaccination of employees and for compliance with stated directives and COVID-appropriate norms, the government cautioned.
