Youths of Nishiganj village of Cooch Behar in West Bengal have turned to 'Tension Devta' to rid them of their worries. The youths carved a human face on a stone and established a small temple dedicated to the deity.

Cooch Behar: In a strong reiteration of India's penchant for unusual religious practices, a village in West Bengal houses a unique deity - Tension Devta, who rids people of their worries.

Residents of Cooch Behar's Nishiganj village have literally given birth to this new deity who relieves them of their worldly problems and worries.

Tagged as 'Tension Devta', the deity's job is to rescue people from all kinds of tensions and relieve them of stress.

'Tension Devta' to curb unemployment

Interestingly, locals from the village have been worshipping the deity for the past three years.

The deity, in the form of a human face, has been placed under a tree. Locals throng the place whenever they have any tension or are under stress.

The priest, who initially refused to worship the deity informed that youths throng the temple to pray for jobs.

Locals have also claimed that time and again, their wishes have been granted after offerings to the 'Tension Devta.'

Frustrated about lack of employment opportunities, youths of Nishiganj village of Cooch Behar in West Bengal have turned to the 'Tension Devta'.



They have been worshipping the 'Tension Devta' for the last three years.



The youths here carved a human face on a stone and established a small temple dedicated to the deity. The local priest refused to worship the new deity but later agreed.



According to the priest, prayer is made to the 'Tension god' so that youths may get jobs.



Many villagers too come to the deity and wish to solve their problems. The villagers claim that tensions are being eliminated after offering prayers to the 'Tension Devta'.
