Cooch Behar: In a strong reiteration of India's penchant for unusual religious practices, a village in West Bengal houses a unique deity - Tension Devta, who rids people of their worries.
Residents of Cooch Behar's Nishiganj village have literally given birth to this new deity who relieves them of their worldly problems and worries.
Tagged as 'Tension Devta', the deity's job is to rescue people from all kinds of tensions and relieve them of stress.
Interestingly, locals from the village have been worshipping the deity for the past three years.
The deity, in the form of a human face, has been placed under a tree. Locals throng the place whenever they have any tension or are under stress.
The priest, who initially refused to worship the deity informed that youths throng the temple to pray for jobs.
Locals have also claimed that time and again, their wishes have been granted after offerings to the 'Tension Devta.'
