Mumbai (Maharashtra): NCP leader and Skills Employment Minister Nawab Malik says that with senior BJP leader and Home Minister Amit Shah camped in Kolkata in the backdrop of the forthcoming West Bengal Assembly elections, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's troubles have compounded. Hence NCP leader Sharad Pawar may visit West Bengal to lend Mamata a helping hand.

NCP president Sharad Pawar will soon visit West Bengal: Nawab Malik

"The BJP is trying to destabilize the elected government in West Bengal. NCP president Sharad Pawar and Mamata Banerjee have discussed the issue. If need be, Pawar will also go to Kolkata to meet Mamata Banerjee. Pawar has tried to unite the opposition against the BJP. This will be a part of it," said NCP spokesperson Nawab Malik.

Malik said the Trinamool government in West Bengal was democratically elected. But the central government is abusing its power and creating instability in West Bengal. Pressure tactics are being used on the administrative officials there. This role of BJP leaders is not based on democracy. Against this, Sharad Pawar has had a phone conversation with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Pawar has extensive experience in politics and has tried to unite the opposition in Delhi. As part of that, if needed, Pawar can also go to Kolkata to meet Mamata Banerjee, Malik said.

"The way Pawar did not succumb to the pressure of the BJP in Maharashtra and instead formed the Mahavikas Aghadi, the opposition should come together in the same way," Malik said.
