Kolkata: Actress-turned-politician Nusrat Jahan made her first public appearance on Wednesday after delivering her baby boy two weeks ago. She responded sharply to media queries on her child's father, saying, "the father of my child knows that he is the father."
Slamming the media, the Trinamool Congress MP said, "I think that's a weird question and it puts blackspot on somebody's character... We are having great parenthood at the moment...We are having a good time." She said the questions have elements enough to malign a woman.
She made a public appearance during the inauguration ceremony of a beauty salon. Jahan shunned questions with the one-liner. However, she said that she and her partner Jash Dasgupta are enjoying the presence of the child and his guardianship. Regarding diet, Jahan said that she is not following any diet chart right at this moment. "I am eating a lot since I have to breastfeed my child," she said.
When asked about the possible time when she will be back in her activities, she said that it will be as soon as possible, as things settle down. "Let me spend some time with my son now. I am dedicated to the people who elected me. So I will have to come back to them as soon as possible," she said.
She also said that she addresses her son as Ishan. She also made it clear that it will take some time to be back in acting. "Ishan needs me now. I need to give him time. I cannot be committed to acting right now," she said.
