Man dies of electrocution in Kolkata

A 71-year-old man died of electrocution in Kolkata's Narendrapur area. The incident took place when he was trying to turn on the lamp post outside his home.

Kolkata (West Bengal): A man died of electrocution while he was trying to turn on the lamp post in Narendrapur area of Kolkata.

Bangshibadan Saha, a 71-year-old, was trying to turn on the lamp post outside his home. He collapsed as soon as he came in touch with the switch-box.

"My husband was trying to switch on the lamp post outside our house and fell down. When I tried to save him, I felt an electric shock myself. I switched off the switch-box with the help of a wooden stick but still, I failed to save my husband," said deceased's wife.

Locals said that the area was underwater after continuous rain. Last evening while it was raining, Bangshibadan tried to turn on the lamp post outside his home. That is when the incident took place.
