Kolkata: Sleuths probing the case of the arrested JMB supporters from Kolkata are now sure that the trio had direct links with the Ansarullah faction of the terror outfit based out of Bangladesh and was in touch with a notorious explosive expert, Pias Sheikh, across the borders. Were they planning some explosion anywhere in the state or the neighbourhood?

In face of interrogation, the arrested trio has named several top and most-wanted leaders of Bangladesh- based terror outfit, JMB. Already the sleuths of the Special Task Force (STF) of Kolkata Police, which arrested the trio, had come across the name of Pias Sheikh.

But who is Pias Sheikh? He is now somewhere in Bangladesh. According to the police records, Sheikh is an explosive expert and his entry into the terror world was through the Ansarullah faction. Sheikh was training the trio on the different formulae of explosives making through the Internet. Naturally, the question that is haunting the investigating sleuths is whether JMB had some fresh plans of explosion or explosions in different pockets of the state.

Already, the trio has admitted to the police that apart from West Bengal, some other JMB sleeper cell members are currently hiding in some other states of the country. However, Kolkata was supposed to be the monitoring base of the activities of these sleeper cell members.

Besides Pias Sheikh, the sleuths are also looking for the whereabouts of another person, Selim Munshi, who helped the trio in getting fake identity documents and renting the house at Haridebpur in the southern fringes of Kolkata, from where they were arrested. “We suspect that some more JMB activists are hiding in different pockets of the state with a fake identity. We hope that more information will be grilled out of them,” a probe official said.

Already, the owner of the house at Haridebpur, from where the trio was arrested, had been summoned and questioned at the Kolkata Police headquarters. They learnt that Munshi borrowed the voter identity card of a local resident and used it in making the fake documents of the trio. Meanwhile, the city police are in touch with their counterparts in Bangladesh.
