Gajendra Singh Shekhawat's convoy attacked in West Bengal

In West Bengal, the convoy of Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Minister of Jal Shakti, who has been campaigning for BJP candidates has been attacked. An FIR has been registered by the Union Minister at the Chetla Police Station.

Jodhpur (West Bengal): TMC workers allegedly attacked the house of an activist named Animesh Das. When the Union Water Power Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat along with the activist had arrived at the Chetla police station to lodge an FIR, the TMC workers attacked the convoy, in which 3-4 vehicles were damaged.

Around 100-150 militant cadres of the TMC had surrounded the police station. After a hard struggle by the police personnel for about one and a half hours, additional security forces were roped in to safely escort the Union Minister out from there amidst tight security.

However, Union Minister Shekhawat first got his supporters evacuated safely and then finally left the police station.

Earlier, the same cadres of the TMC had attacked the rally of BJP candidate Rudranil Ghosh in Bhawanipur. It was after this that they targeted the house of the BJP activist and threatened to kill and rape his family members.

It was in the aftermath of the incident, that Union Minister Shekhawat protesting the attack by the TMC had reached the Chetla PS along with the activist to file an FIR.
