Centre to strip WB cops of medals for taking part in dharna

New Delhi:The Union Home Ministry has decided to strip medals from five IPS officers who took part in Mamata Banerjee's dharna in Kolkata.

MHA had asked the WB government to take action against the officers who had participated in dharna in Kolkata on 4th February as per All India Services (Conduct) Rules.

In addition, a number of measures are also being initiated against defaulting officers such as withdrawing medals. Centre may also remove names of delinquent officers from the empanelled list & bar them for a certain period from serving in the central government.

The officers are:

Virendra(85),DGP W.B,

Vineet Kumar Goel(94),ADG, Director, Security,

Anuj Sharma(91) ADG L&O,

Gyanwant Singh(93),CP, Bidhannagar,

Supratim Sarkar(97) CP.
