Kolkata: A BJP member was killed in a clash with supporters of the ruling Trinamool Congress over a flag hoisting ceremony in West Bengal, police said.
Sudarshan Pramanik was a member of the BJP-run Zilla Parishad in Hooghly district.
Police said that a case has been registered and a probe is underway. According to sources, interrogation is on but no arrests have been made so far.

Local sources say both sides had gathered at the same spot to hoist a flag as their offices are located in the same area. The conflict started tension at Khanakul around 60 km west of Kolkata.
Reportedly, local people staged a protest against the police. State BJP has condemned the incident and urged the police to arrest those responsible for the violence.
