Dehradun (Uttarakhand): A wall collapsed in Haridwar's Har-Ki-Pauri ghat due to a massive lightning storm, in the wee hours on Tuesday.
According to sources, no casualties were reported, however, loss of property was quite evident from the damage.
The administration asserted that the incident might have turned fatal if it had occurred at any other time during the day.
The place is well known among devotees as many of them offer prayers during the auspicious 'Ganga Aarti'.

While the incident had reportedly occurred for the first time, priests are considering it as a 'bad omen'.
Moreover, a priest stated that the wall collapse is an effect of not allowing devotees to bathe in Ganga during the month of Savan, owing to COVID-19 outbreak.
According to sources, there has also been demand from the administration to allow bathing in Ganga with social distancing measures.
On the other hand, the number of active coronavirus cases in Uttarakhand has reached 1,375 while 55 deaths have been reported so far.
