As per plan, Modi landed at Kedarnath in Rudraprayag in a special IAF chopper where he was welcomed by the state government officials and therefrom was taken straight to the temple.

After offering Puja inside the temple, Modi spent some time there to take stock of Kedarpuri reconstruction works as it was one of his dream projects ever since he took over as prime minister of India in 2014.

Modi's Saturday visit is his fourth visit of the shrine in the past five years.

Modi had been an ardent devotee of Kedarnath since 1980s when he used to make regular visits to the Kedarnath and spend time in meditation at the shrine. It's significant that he had been personally monitoring the reconstruction works at the shrine area for the past nearly two years ever since the BJP government came to power in the state in 2017.

Modi is one of the three Prime Ministers of India who had deep faith in Kedarnath and has been paying their obeisance. Prior to him late Prime Ministers Indira Gandhi and Moraji Desai were regular visitors of the shrine.
