Udham Singh Nagar (Uttarakhand): A man was arrested from Kashipur in Uttarakhand's Udham Singh Nagar district on Thursday for possession of two live hand grenades.
"The man identified as Sarjit was in possession of a high-explosive grenade", police said.
Sarjit, a resident of Rampur was on a visit to his uncle's house in Mehtawan village. Police said he was trying to create panic among the villagers saying that he posses explosives.
After the village residents informed this to the police, a search was conducted at his uncle's residence. The cops recovered two HE-36 grenades, one from his uncle's house and the other from the backyard during the search operation.
"Bomb Disposal Squad found it to be a high-explosive grenade. We are trying to ascertain from where he obtained that grenade," said Superintendent of Police, Jagdish Chandra.
