Dehradun: Asserting that his crusade against corruption would continue, AIIMS whistleblower Sanjiv Chaturvedi called upon the government officials to be fearless in dispensing their duties.
Speaking to ETV Bharat, Chaturvedi recollected his tenure as Chief Vigilance Officer at AIIMS, Delhi.
With an aim to break the mesh of corruption in his organisation, he had registered various cases against several government officials. Unaware of the consequences, he treaded his way forward, gaining a lot of enemies on his way.
"I suffered a lot during my tenure at AIIMS Delhi from 2014-2015, a lot of baggage from the past continues to hang on my shoulders," he remarked.
Chaturvedi's four-year tenure at AIIMS was cut short to two years; after he began exposing the wrongdoings of the corrupt officials. Despite this, he unearthed about 200 cases of corruption during his time there.
He said that the prize for his fight against corruption was a transfer.

Apparently, the ministers and officials from the then government and his organisation were not happy with his practices.
Sanjiv further explained that there is a large nexus of corrupt officers operating in the country, most of whom are those with power and position. "Corporate houses have a huge role in keeping these parallel systems functioning," he said.
Revealing the outcomes that his actions bore, he said, "There are more than 20 cases registered against me, all in answer to the questions I raised before people. Despite all these things, I am not afraid and I will never be."
He went on to say, "Even after my transfer from Delhi, a number of people were arrested under corruption charges, while many others still live under constant fear of meeting the same fate."
It is to be noted that Sanjiv Chaturvedi is a 2002 IFS officer of the Haryana cadre, currently posted at Forest Research Institute in Haldwani.
Prior to this, he was posted in Haryana's Kurukshetra as the Divisional Forest Officer.
Chaturvedi received the Ramon Magsaysay Award for his courage and honest service to people. He was also awarded the most Honest Officer Award by the Health Secretary of Delhi.
Ironically, after the change of Government, the same Health Secretary ordered his transfer from AIIMS. It was then things took a turn for Sanjiv.
