Dehradun: The borders and boundaries bind humans but not animals. Amid the growing bitterness between India and Nepal, two elephants from the neighbouring nation have started creating havoc in the border villages of Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh following which the forest department officials of both the nations are on red alert.

Nepal's aggressive stand on the border dispute has soured the relations between the two nations following the claims that certain Indian territories belong to Nepal.

A large area of Indian territory adjoining Nepal comes under the forest cover. It is believed that the pachyderms have crossed the border while venturing into the deep forests. They have started bothering people living in the settlements outside the forests and forest department officials of both states are trying to monitor their movements.

Right after they entered the Indian territory on September 13, the Chief Wildlife Warden in the Uttarakhand Forest Department was instructed to observe the matter closely. An alert has also been issued to rule out the human and wildlife conflict.

According to Uttarakhand Forest Minister Harak Singh Rawat, these elephants have entered the forests of Khatima and Pilibhit from Nepal and the forest department is trying to send them back to Nepal or divert their way to a safer place.
