Despite coronavirus, it's business as usual at Har Ki Pauri in Haridwar

World famous Har Ki Pauri in Haridwar seems to be unaffected by the deadly coronavirus as people are still visiting it in large numbers. The caretakers, however, keep announcing at regular intervals that they must take care in view of the disease spreading fast.

Haridwar: With coronavirus spreading across the world and the governments cancelling or postponing public events in order to contain the deadly contagious disease, Har Ki Pauri is one place here which seems to be unaffected as people continue to participate in 'Ganga aarti' and other religious rituals in large number on day-to-day basis.

The visitors seem to be unaffected as they gather and participate in 'Ganga aarti' and take dip in the river, which is considered holy by the Hindus.

However, the organizers keep appealing to people to take all necessary precautions on regular intervals. They also advise them not to worry or get panicked in view of the disease that has claimed thousands of lives across the globe in the past three months.
Speaking to ETV Bharat, priest Ujwal Pandit said Har Ki Pauri is witnessing arrival of people as usual even in these difficult times. "People take holy dip here very day. The world may have shut but this is a blessed place and people are coming to perform 'puja' as usual," he said.
A visitor also expressed similar views, saying "no one is wearing mask and they are taking holy dip without worrying about anything," he added, saying no one seems to be bothered.
Meanwhile, in order to contain the disease, the central and the state governments across India have strengthened the medical setup and suspected cases are being tested and people with any kind of history quarantined.
