Dehradun: Seeking speedy trial for cases of acid attack and rape, an acid attack survivor has said the government must immediately regulate sale and purchase of the item and steps should be taken to make life livable for the affected.
"It seems that I not only lost my face after the acid attack, but I have also lost my prestige and respect as well. People look at you with different perspective. It has changed everything for me," Kavita, an acid attack survivor, told ETV Bharat here.
Recommending death sentence for every criminal involved in heinous crimes like acid attack and rape, she said it was very important that the criminal is put to death after he is proven guilty.
"Had they hanged the first acid attacker, a large number of daughters would have been saved," she said, adding that any survivor would always need support from the government.
Kavita also demanded a complete ban on free sale and purchase of acid in the entire country.
"A pension for the acid attack victims would be a great help for them. I requested the same when I met Chief Minister last year," she said.
"My father died of a heart attack soon after I was attacked as I had lost my eyes, he would always be stressed," she said, adding that her entire family got disturbed after the attack their lives got disrupted.
