Meerut: The Uttar Pradesh police on Sunday arrested a youth for allegedly raping a girl and blackmailing her with a video of the act. The arrested youth has been identified as Wasim of Mundali locality in Meerut.
According to sources, the victim girl met the accused in a social media platform a few months ago and befriended by the accused. Later, the accused called her several places on the pretext of meeting.
During the course of their relationship, the youth took the girl to various places and had physical relation with her on multiple occasions. The youth also clandestinely captured the videos of their intimate moment in his phone.
The accused, Wasim had been blackmailing her, forcing the girl not to report the matter to anyone for many days. The victim further alleged that Wasim had also threatened her of making the video viral on social media. However, the girl finally managed to acquire courage and reported the entire matter to her family.
When the girl’s father learnt about the whole incident, he lodged a complaint with Mundali police. Acting on the complaint, police inquired into the matter and arrested the accused youth.
The police seized the cellphone of the youth containing the obscene videos and photographs. Police have also seized a fake aadhar card of the accused. A case has been registered and the accused has been sent to jail, sources added.
