Shamli: In yet another case of violence against media persons, a journalist was thrashed brutally by alleged GRP officials in Uttar Pradesh's Shamli late on Tuesday night.
According to reports, Amit Sharma, a journalist with a national media house was at the spot where three wagons of a goods train had derailed while shunting near Dhimanpura.
While shooting at the spot, Sharma was manhandled by Rakesh Kumar, SO, GRP Shamli, along with alleged officials in plain clothing.
Sharma was then reportedly locked up in custody.
Narrating his ordeal, Sharma said, "They were in plain clothes. One of them hit me and my camera fell down. When I picked it up, they started thrashing and abusing me. I was then locked up and stripped. They even urinated in my mouth."
A few days earlier, Sharma had reported on corruption with regard to illegal vendors on trains.
