Chandauli (Uttar Pradesh): During a routine combing operation, the GRP and RPF of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Junction nabbed two smugglers were arrested with gold.
During checking on Sunday night, a joint team of GRP and RPF recovered 6.64 Kg of gold from the two smugglers. During interrogation, the smugglers revealed that they were taking the consignment of gold from Kolkata to Delhi. The smugglers were travelling in B-1 coach of Bhubaneshwar Rajdhani Express and were trying to change the train at DDU Junction.

Both smugglers have been identified as Dilip Mandal and Karthik Mandal, residents of West Bengal. Both of them were smuggling gold bricks by hiding them in a belt-like cloth. Meanwhile, several agencies including the sales Tax department joined in the investigation.
In this whole matter, CO GRP Akhilesh Rai told that two suspicious persons were arrested at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay railway station. "These people were going from Calcutta to Delhi's Karol Bagh with a consignment of gold. The value of the recovered gold is being told in the international market to be around Rs 2 crore 61 lakh. Further action is initiated by registering a case against the accused under relevant sections. The concerned departments have also been informed about the case as well," said Rai.
