Muzaffarnagar: A man allegedly shot dead his 25-year-old cousin brother over a family dispute on Friday night in Kutesra village under Charthawal police station limits here and fled.
According to sources, the accused, Sonu and the deceased, Aabad Murtja had dispute over land this evening, which was the reason of tiff between the two since ages. But on Friday, the spat turned ugly.
As per reports, Sonu allegedly whipped out his countrymade pistol and shot his brother multiple times on the chest, following a heated argument. Murtja collapsed and died on the spot.
As soon as the family members received the information about the incident, they rushed to the spot and informed the police about the same.
"On receiving the information about the incident, we reached the spot to investigate the matter. The body has been sent for post-mortem. A case has been registered against the accused under IPC section 302 (murder). Police are trying to nab the culprit," said Circle Officer (CO) Muzzafarnagar, Kuldeep Kumar.
"Police have been deployed in the village to keep an eye on the movement of everyone in the village and to keep the situation under control," he added.
