Shamli (UP): A case of criminal intimidation was lodged against Samajwadi Party's Kairana MLA Nahid Hasan on Saturday in Uttar Pradesh's Shamli district, taking the total number of cases against the fugitive MLA to 12.
The latest case is related to the threat made by MLA Hasan to one Ummed Rao who had leased his mini truck to Nawab, one of the aides of Hasan.
Nawab refused to give Ummed's money despite several reminders by the latter to return it. Ummed approached police when Nawab refused to return the truck as well, boasting about his proximity with MLA Hasan.
According to Ummed’s wife, her husband suffered a heart attack after he was threatened by MLA Hasan.
The MLA is facing arrest after police secured a warrant in four cases lodged against him. Raids and searches were conducted at his Kairana and Delhi residence but the MLA has reportedly gone underground fearing arrest.
“We have four warrants against him. We will attach his property by October 20, if he does not surrender or is not arrested,” Ajay Kumar, Shamli SP said.
