UP increases production of hand sanitizers to meet demand

Uttar Pradesh government has stepped up measures to meet increasing demand of hand sanitizers in the wake of coronavirus crisis. Over 50 new licenses have been issued to various agencies to produce required quantity of the product.

Lucknow: To deal with the shortage of hand sanitizers in the wake of coronavirus crisis, over 60 thousand liters of the same is being produced every day in Uttar Pradesh, official sources said.

The state government officials told ETV Bharat here on Friday that the government has stepped up measures to meet the requirement of the product in the market in view of its demand in the backdrop of increasing number of cases of the deadly disease that has killed over 50 thousand people across the world.

The officials said that 52 new licences have been issued to make hand sanitizers in the state. They said 21 sugar mills, 9 distilleries and 22 sanitizer-making companies have been given the permit to make the product.

The state government officials said that the makers and sellers have been instructed not to charge more than Rs 100 for 200ml pack of hand sanitizer. They also added that directions have been issued to ensure availability of hand sanitizers according to the demand.
