Kanpur Dehat: A video of a Dalit man being thrashed with sticks by a group of people in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur Dehat district has gone viral. In the heart rending visuals, the assailants can be seen pulling the man's hair, elbowing, kicking and beating the man black and blue with sticks. Reportedly, the man was even hit on the nether regions by the group.
Kanpur Dehat Police, based on the viral video, have apprehended a person in connection with the case and a manhunt is on to nab two other culprits. It is also learnt that the incident took place took two days ago in the Akbarpur area of the district.
Police say that the man was having a love affair with a girl, and when the girl's family came to know about it, their relatives tied up the man and brutally assaulted him. The young man has been admitted to the hospital for treatment and his condition remains very critical. As the video of the incident went viral, police swung into action and have launched an investigation into the incident.
