New Delhi: A day after a woman, who had accused BJP MLA Kuldeep Sengar of rape, met with a grievous accident that killed two of her aunts, Congress leader Meem Afzal said the accident was a conspiracy and felt like the plot of a detective film.
"The rape-accused MLA is in jail, and everyone knows about his influence. The victim's father was brutally beaten up and he died. Her uncle is in jail. Her two aunts were killed in the accident, while she and her lawyer are in a critical condition. The truck was travelling on the wrong side and its number plate was allegedly blackened," he said.
"Looking at all of these facts, doesn't it feel exactly like a conspiracy, like the plot of a film? However, the police say it looks like an accident, and if required an enquiry can be launched. The police's attitude proves that the MLA is very influential," he added.
A car in which the survivor of Unnao rape case, her family and lawyer were travelling was hit by an over-speeding truck in Rae Bareli on Sunday, killing two members of the family while leaving her and the advocate critically injured.
A woman belonging to Makhi Police Station area in Unnao had alleged that BJP MLA Kuldeep Sengar, a four-time MLA who represents Bangermau in the UP Assembly, raped her teenage daughter at his residence in 2017.
The case had come to light after the victim allegedly attempted self-immolation outside Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's residence.
