Prayagraj: Forensic examination has confirmed that traces of blood that were found at several places at slain criminal-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed's office were of human origin, police said. They also said that the forensic team had sent the blood samples for examination at the Forensic Science Laboratory and the report confirmed the same.
As to how the blood traces ended up at Atiq Ahmed's office, police sources said that a group of drug addict youths entered the office thinking that they may be able to steal some cash and valuables from there.
The five drug addict youths entered the demolished office of Atiq on Sunday night and searched every nook and corner of it. However, they suddenly started quarreling among themselves for some reason. Soon they came to blows and attacked each other with knives. " During the fight one of the youths suffered a stab injury on his hand and blood from the wound fell at several places at the office," police sources said.

They further revealed that the investigators have already unraveled where the youths received treatment for their wounds. However, police remained tight lipperd on whether there has been a breakthrough in relation to the youths' current location.
Police said that the said youths perhaps have come to know that Rs 74 lakh cash was found in Atiq's office and were thinking that there may more hidden in the demolished office. They were also thinking that apart from cash they might get their hands on some valuables also. Police said that the said youths will be nabbed soon.
