The opposition missed the opportunity to discuss Covid-19: Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi

Union Minister for Minority Affairs, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi believes that the opposition parties have missed an opportunity to take part in the Covid-19 discussion, which was called by PM Modi. Speaking to ETV Bharat, the BJP leader said that all the opposition parties were invited with respect for a discussion on Covid-19.

New Delhi: Union Minister for Minority Affairs, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi believes that the opposition parties have missed an opportunity to take part in the Covid-19 discussion, which was called by PM Modi. Speaking to ETV Bharat, the BJP leader said that all the opposition parties were invited with respect for a discussion on Covid-19. The opposition parties could have shared their valuable suggestions. There were no political discussions and the opposition missed the opportunity to participate in the discussion.

On the question of the constant uproar in both houses of the Parliament, the BJP leader said that there was a very positive discussion of Covid-19 in the Rajya Sabha. The opposition parties raised their points and the governments also informed about the achievements. Constructive and positive debate and discussion is the duty of the Parliament. There are attempts to disturb the ongoing Monsoon session by creating a ruckus.

Defending the Centre's statement on 'no deaths due to oxygen shortage', the Union Minister for Minority Affairs said the government is making arrangements for medical oxygen. 9000 metric tonnes of medical oxygen is available in the country which will further increase in the coming days. He added that the opposition is trying to derive 'political oxygen' out of this issue.

Speaking on UP elections, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that inclusive development will be the party's issue and he is confident that Uttar Pradesh will once again vote for the party. Union Minister of Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi was appointed as the Deputy Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha. The position fell vacant after Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal was elevated as the Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha following the appointment of Thawarchand Gehlot as Governor of Karnataka. Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has held the portfolio of Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs earlier.
