New Delhi: As the nation is expressing outrage over the numerous rape cases that are being reported, Samajwadi Party (SP) MP from Moradabad, ST Hasan also reacted to the same.

Talking to ETV Bharat, Hasan said, "Implementation of Sharia law in the country will reduce growing violent crimes against women. The law will empower the females of the country and will allow public lynching of rapists. This will help reduce such crimes across the nation."

The contentious Citizenship Amendment Bill 2019 was approved by the Union Cabinet on Wednesday.

Calling the Bill as anti-muslim, Hasan said, "There are several Muslims who have been serving the country for decades and their families also stay here. The amended bill is at odds with the secular principles enshrined in the constitution as it excludes a community. Hence, the amendments in the bill are unjustified."

The minister said that the Narendra Modi-led central government is trying to create a rift between Hindu and Muslim communities that could be a great threat for our future generations.

The MP had recently raised the issue of Dhela river bridge located on Moradabad-Kashipur road for tourism business and safe travel during the Zero Hour in Parliament.

Giving information about the same, he said, thousands of people travelling to Jim Corbett National Park remain stranded for hours on the highway as it allows passage to one-way traffic.

Demanding quick reconstruction of Dhela river bridge, he said, "The bridge has played an important role in connecting Moradabad and Uttarakhand but now it is in a dilapidated state. The bridge may collapse any time soon and people will have to pay for government's negligence."
