Hapur (Uttar Pradesh): A senior politician has been remanded in an alleged fake currency case. The arrested man, Mujjamil Hayath is a senior party leader of Samajwadi Party (SP).
Local police and intelligence department have also become active after the leader's arrest.
The Goa police had reached Garh Mukteshwar in search of Mujjamil, after fake Indian currency worth Rs. 55,000 was recovered from few men in Goa.
These men had informed the police about their contact with Mujjamil.
Mujjamil was questioned and later sent for a medical check-up. He has been taken in remand for five days by the Goa police.
Mujjamil, a resident of Garh Kotwali area here, is reportedly a businessman from Hapur. He also has good contacts with many senior leaders of the Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party(BSP).
