Kanpur: A team of forensic and police officials on Saturday recreated the crime scene wherein gangster Vikas Dubey was killed on July 10 while being brought here from Ujjain, where he was arrested a day before.
The team reached the spot where the police vehicle, carrying Dubey, overturned on the morning of July 10 and the gangster tried to escape after snatching a pistol from a policeman. The scene, how he tried to escape after coming out of the overturned vehicle and fired on the policemen accompanying him when they asked him to stop, was recreated with a policeman playing Vikas Dubey and other members of the team acting as policemen.Dubey fired on the police personnel and they retaliated, the whole scene was recreated.
Dubey, who allegedly masterminded the killing of eight policemen on July 2 when they were going to arrest him at Bikru village, was to be produced in a Kanpur court but he was killed in the police encounter, which many questioned, saying it was a fake one to save people involved in bigger crimes.

Earlier, five members of the Dubey gang were killed in separate encounters.
While on July 3, two of his associates, Prem Prakash Pandey and Atul Dubey, were killed by police in an encounter in Kanpur, on July 8 the police killed another aide, Amar Dubey, who carried a reward of Rs 50,000, in Maudaha village in Hamirpur district.
On July 9, two more aides of gangster Vikas Dubey, wanted in connection with the Kanpur ambush, were killed in separate encounters in Kanpur and Etawah districts.
